Distance Across Corners
Command path: Tools->Distance Across Corners
The
purpose of this tool is to determine the diameter of a circle that
circumscribes a regular polygon of a specified height and with N number of sides. The tool also determines the diameter of the circle inscribed within the polygon.
The Distance Across Corners tool is shown below:
Instructions
for entering the polygon's metrics are shown at the top of the tool.
Below the instructions are fields for entering the polygon's
height and number of sides. Images of the polygon and the circles
are drawn below the Height and Sides fields. The diameters of the outer (circumscribed) and inner (inscribed) circles are shown below the images.
The images are redrawn and the diameters are calculated when either the Height or the Sides field has the focus and the Enter key is pressed. The Tab key may also be used.
Figure
16 illustrates how the polygon's height is determined. The height
must be greater than 0. The number of sides must be greater than
or equal to 3 and must be a whole number.
